Scope and Topics
We are beset by a technological acceleration that is penetrating all spheres of society. Even despite some reluctance, this fact will continue to explode if we stick to the three laws (Moore, Butter and Kryder) that support the digital revolution.
The benefits of emerging technologies, including those of Industry 4.0 in the daily lives of individuals, institutions, and governments are undeniable. For example, the Internet of Things makes it possible to monitor seasonal agricultural production; the exploitation of augmented reality today is used to motivate and engage learners through interactive experiences; 4D printing facilitates the product design process during the supply chain. Artificial intelligence can be exploited to optimize the allocation of resources in public administration; distributed ledger technologies are used to dematerialize and secure financial transactions. Big Data and analytics are used to reduce treatment costs and increase treatment efficiency after assembling and analyzing patient data to identify explanations that are not humanly visible to practitioners. The world is therefore in a mad race during which we must constantly adapt in order to properly exploit these increasingly accessible technologies for our adapted solutions. Consequently, it disrupts our habits and therefore those of the surrounding ecosystem in terms of governance, legal, social, informational, educational, to name a few. In addition, this evolution is accompanied by ethical, irresponsible drifts exposing people to cybercriminals.
Indeed, this technological movement tends to rule the inefficient human from any mastery or control of the applications that result from it. The resumption of this control requires questions to which adequate answers, provided by SAFER-TEA, will make it possible to contain the disturbance and to channel this technological movement to social and societal realities for better governance. The direct consequence is the cleaning up of the landscape of the digital economy.
Topics
Track 1: Security and Safety in Technologies with Emerging Applications
This track could focus on techniques, methodologies, and best practices for ensuring cybersecurity in various applications and systems. Topics may include encryption, authentication, intrusion detection, threat intelligence, secure coding practices, and data privacy regulations such as GDPR. Topics could also cover emerging threats, such as AI-driven cyberattacks, ransomware, and IoT vulnerabilities, digital forensics, Cloud, Quantum computing, embedded systems, communications and networks technologies such as mesh networks, wireless, CDN, SDN, cyber-physical systems, etc.
Track 2: Ethics and Responsibility in Technologies with Emerging Applications
This track would explore the ethical considerations surrounding AI and machine learning technologies. Discussions might revolve around fairness, interpretability, explainability, transparency, accountability, and bias mitigation in AI algorithms and systems. Topics could delve into case studies, frameworks for ethical AI development, regulatory compliance (e.g., AI ethics guidelines and standards), deviations in generative models, adversarial behaviors, etc.
Track 3: Responsible Innovation and Governance:
This track would address the broader societal implications of emerging technologies. Topics may include technology assessment, risk management, stakeholder engagement, and the role of policymakers and regulators in fostering responsible innovation. Topics could also examine ethical decision-making frameworks, corporate social responsibility, the importance of inclusivity and diversity in technology development, trust and responsibility in Cloud, IoT, Quantum, and related applications, etc.
Track 4: Technologies and Social Impact:
This track would focus on the potential societal impacts of new and emerging technologies. Discussions might cover areas such as sustainability, the digital divide, accessibility, and the ethical implications of technologies like biotechnology, nanotechnology, and synthetic biology. Topics could explore how emerging technologies can be harnessed to address global challenges while mitigating potential risks and unintended consequences. Furthermore, e-services within societies based on emerging technologies could also be discussed regarding data, storage, software, and usability services.
Publication
All accepted papers will be submitted for publishing in the Springer LNICST series and made available through the SpringerLink Digital Library (indexed by Scopus, ACM Digital Library, dblp, Google Scholar).
Proceedings will be submitted for inclusion in leading indexing services, such as Web of Science, Compendex, Scopus, DBLP, EU Digital Library, IO-Port, MatchSciNet, Inspec and Zentralblatt MATH.
Additional publication opportunities:
- EAI/Springer Lecture Notes of the Institute for Computer Sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering – LNICST
(titles in this series are indexed in Ei Compendex, Web of Science & Scopus)
By paying an additional $150, authors can publish their articles in the EAI Endorsed Transactions journal selected by the conference (Scopus and Ei-indexed). The article’s publication is subject to the following requirements:
– It must be an extended version of the conference paper with a different title and abstract. In general, 30% of new content must be added.
– The article will be processed once the conference proceedings have been published.
– The article will be processed using the fast-track option.
– Once the conference proceedings are published, the corresponding author should contact us at [email protected] with the details of their article to begin processing
EAI is an open community dedicated to creating an environment where every member receives the same opportunities, benefits and opportunities to develop and grow their research mission and career. As the largest free professional research society in the world EAI offers a complete range of conference proceedings publication opportunities. Based on the qualification of the conference and the conference scope EAI provides the possibility to publish the proceedings for every sponsored conference. Consistent with its mission to support developing communities all EAI sponsored conferences appear in EUDL, the European Union Digital Library (EUDL). EUDL is Open Access and free for EAI members reaching a community of 250,000 subscribers and providing the visibility that allows the conference organizers to develop the conference into a fully fledged indexed proceedings publication in subsequent years.
Submission Guidelines
- Go to Confy+ website.
- Log in or sign up as a new user.
- Select your desired track.
- Click the ‘Submit Paper’ link within the track and follow the instructions.
Alternatively, go to the Confy+ homepage and click on “Open Conferences.”
Submission Guidelines:
- All papers must be submitted in English.
- Previously published work cannot be submitted, nor can it be concurrently submitted to any other conference or journal. These papers will be rejected without review.
- Papers must follow the Springer formatting guidelines (available in the Author’s Kit section).
- Authors must read and agree to the Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement.
- As per new EU accessibility requirements, going forward, all figures, illustrations, tables, and images should have descriptive text accompanying them. Please refer to the document below, which will assist you in crafting Alternative Text (Alt Text)
Paper Submission
Papers should be submitted through EAI ‘Confy+‘ system, and have to comply with the Springer format (see Author’s kit section).
- Regular papers should be up to 12-15+ pages in length.
- Short papers should be 6-11 pages in length.
All conference papers undergo a thorough peer review process prior to the final decision and publication. This process is facilitated by experts in the Technical Program Committee during a dedicated conference period. Standard peer review is enhanced by EAI Community Review which allows EAI members to bid to review specific papers. All review assignments are ultimately decided by the responsible Technical Program Committee Members while the Technical Program Committee Chair is responsible for the final acceptance selection. You can learn more about Community Review here.
